It is BOS's mission to promote community interaction among African, African-American and African-Caribbean students at Lawrence, as well as to promote an understanding and efficient means of dealing with the present, past and future problems and needs of black students and the community. It is our duty to promote and improve the understanding of the cultural greatness and contributions of the people of African descent. BOS provides a base through which training, services and programs can be implemented at Lawrence and in the Fox Valley community. We also works to improve the ability of black students to deal with the pressing demands of college work and financial concerns through academic assistance, social relations and support, as well as providing a medium through which black students at Lawrence can state, express and articulate desires and opinions so that he or she may make an impact.
