I really do hate the Packers, so watching an absolutely terrible play by the Washington Redskins that gave the Packers their win this weekend hurt a lot. Luckily for me, the Packers aren't undefeated anymore, because just last week they lost to the team they hate losing to the most. The Chicago Bears, led by Brian Griese, came back from a large deficit to eventually win the game 27-20. Not so fun for Bears fans is that after this week they sit at 2-4, three games behind the division-leading Green Bay Packers.
The NHL started recently. Anyone watching? I didn't think so, because hockey just isn't as popular as it used to be. I'm sure the hockey guys will all hate reading this, but hockey just isn't where football, basketball and baseball are today.
The league's attendance is down and the games aren't watched as much on TV anymore. It just doesn't generate the interest that it used to for the American public. That said, the year looks bright for two powerhouse teams again this year.
The Ottawa Senators already sit at 6-1 atop the Eastern Conference, and the Minnesota Wild are undefeated at 5-0 in the West. Both of these teams were play-off caliber last year, and both look ready to push deep in the play-offs this year. I know it's early in the season, but watch out for those two teams.
Sunday is my favorite day of the week. I get to watch the Patriots beat up on weaker teams. This past week was no exception and not only that, I got to watch them destroy the Dallas Cowboys, who still claim to be "America's Team."
After the 48 points the Patriots put up on Dallas' vaunted defense, the Patriots should be called "America's fantasy team." Tom Brady threw 46 times for almost 400 yards and set a personal high with five touchdown passes. Meanwhile, Wes Welker caught career high 10 receptions and had two touchdowns.
Kyle Eckel, a fourth string running back scored his first NFL touchdown ever. All of this was against a team that was, or maybe still is, the NFC's best chance at a Super Bowl. If that's the case, the NFC is in trouble, because the Cowboys did not belong on their own field Sunday afternoon against one of the strongest Patriot teams in recent history.
