1. What is your favorite memory from your four years running track and cross-country?
My entire sophomore cross-country season is my favorite memory. It was my most successful year, but the best parts were being able to keep up with the guys for runs and getting to run with Coach Ruhly, who nearly qualified for the Olympic Trials. She'd run interval workouts with me because I couldn't practice with the team those days due to rehearsal conflicts, but would preface them with things like, "I'm not going to be able to keep up with you on these." She would then proceed to rock me.
2. If you could fill the Steeple Chase pit with anything besides water, what would you put in there and why?
PLASTIC BALLS! Like the ball bit at McDonald's. There'd be a lot more falling down so I wouldn't feel like I was the only one who was becoming completely submerged in the pit.
3. What will you miss most about representing LU Athletics?
Wearing those tight little shorts...actually, everything.
4. If you weren't allowed to run races, how would you move around the track?
Speed walk. Have you seen the Olympic speed walkers!? They are amazing! They can walk a 5k faster than I can run one. Plus the way their hips move is fascinating.
5. What are your plans for after graduation?
I'm working at Björklunden this summer and while I'm there I will attempt to secure a future for myself, as I do not have one yet. I want to be a cross-country and track coach or go into sports or art administration.
6. Advice for your teammates?
Stay foxy and always watch "Rocky IV" on the way to conference -- at least the inspirational montage. Also, asking "What Would Phil Keith Do?" (WWPKD?) always produces the best advice on how to handle any situation, since he has an opinion on everything. That is the best advice I can offer.
