General Council met Monday, May 3 at 4:30 p.m. in the Hurvis Room. The proposed legislation regarding parking violations was passed. Secondly, it was proposed that the legislation regarding some standing committees be amended for the sake of consistency. Steering committee recognized the Peace Action Collective, Printmaking Club, ACLU (Lawrence Chapter) and Korean Club. BOMB squad was approved for re-recognition. Finance Committee approved requested funds to V-Day, GLOW, Electronic Music Club, Mlée Dance Troupe, Biology Club, Afro-Caribbean Club, Students Engaged in Global Aid, LU-Aroo, Viking Room, a Ghana Trip, Peace Action Collective, Lawrence International and LU Women’s Hockey. Announcements: LUCC is still in search of a representative from the quad. Please pick up an application at the LUCC office if interested! The new parking legislation states: “Two or more violations in any given term will disqualify a student from entering the parking lottery for the subsequent term on campus, including the next academic year.” The old legislation stated that three violations in a term would disqualify a student for the remainder of the academic year. Enforcement of this new policy will begin fall term 2010. We again encourage anyone with a concern to attend a general council meeting – the next meeting will be May 17 at 4:30 in the Hurvis Room – or to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
