No previous experience is required, and all students who will be enrolled at Lawrence next year are eligible to apply. Our news cycle runs from Spring Term to Winter Term, so this is a 3-term commitment.
Each of these positions provides students great opportunities to improve their writing as well as gain communication and managerial skills. These are paid positions which range from roughly 5-15 hours each week, depending on the position.
We are constantly looking to hire new writers, photographers and artists to begin working for The Lawrentian. All positions with The Lawrentian receive a paid stipend. Access the online application by clicking HERE.
The Lawrentian is the only student-run newspaper at Lawrence University. Its function on campus is to report on news of all types, feature the various identities of Lawrence and serve as a forum for broad student voice.
The Lawrentian is published eight times per term, not including special editions. Typically, the newspaper is distributed each Friday afternoon beginning with the second week of the term. We do not publish the newspaper during tenth week or finals.
During a publishing week, a staff meeting for each section is held between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Tuesday evenings, depending on the schedule of an individual section staff. All writers, photographers and artists are required to attend these meetings. If a staff member cannot make a meeting, they must report their absence to the section editor beforehand. Section editors do their best to accommodate the schedules of all staff members.
