By the time most colleges in the U.S. close for winter break, Lawrentians are getting ready to get back to campus. Is there a way for Lawrence to push the calendar such that our winter break falls later?
There is probably no topic more controversial on a college campus than the academic calendar. The term system at Lawrence has existed in one form or another for many decades, with its most recent change coming several years ago with the introduction of an extended winter break. Some faculty and students have voiced concerns about our existing schedule. Any changes to the academic calendar would require a well-considered institutional conversation led by the faculty and administration. I expect we will begin a review in the next few years.
