Poor weather plagues LU golf

Thanks to an extended winter, the Lawrence University golf team has only been able to play in two tournaments thus far. The Lawrence Spring Invitational tournament was postponed last weekend due to the weather. The bad weather certainly hasn’t given the team very much time to hone their skills.

However, Head Coach Kalle Larsson sees potential, stating that “[The team] is excited about the Conference Championships this coming week,” and that she “[believes] we have a good chance to do well. Key freshman John Pechan has been good for us all season, but all members of the team have performed well.”

Similarly, freshman Nathan Fearing says, “I hope to put up a competitive showing this weekend.” He believes that if the team pulls together and focuses, despite being low on numbers due to some recent injuries and unexpected occurrences, it will have the potential to perform very well. When questioned about the team’s chemistry together, Fearing replied, “The Men’s Golf team is a great group of guys that are extremely fun to be around.”

The Vikings will travel to compete in the Midwest Conference Championships April 28, 29 and 30.
