New LUCC Class Representatives appointed to fill vacancies

On Tuesday, March 28, the Lawrence University Community Council (LUCC) Steering Committee approved five new class representatives; Rodrigo Angulo, Fariah Jannat, Elliot Hutflitz, AJ Ulwelling and Caitlin Bourg, for the Spring Term. They are filling vacancies that have existed since Fall Term, and the vacancies created when former sophomore class representative Isabel Dorn was elected LUCC Vice President and former sophomore class representative Sherilyn Patterson was appointed LUCC Parliamentarian. The new appointments officially bring the number of class representatives up to 15 from 12, just one shy of the intended 16 members.

Angulo, who applied originally for a cabinet position but was offered a position as a class representative, stated that he hopes to be more involved in decision making beyond the upper areas of clubs, such as his role as the treasurer of LU Data Science.

“I think [the other class representatives] are pretty good members,” said Angulo. “I think they have [the ethics] and I think they emphasize fairness for everyone, and they have pretty good arguments.”

According to LUCC’s website, class representatives serve to represent their respective constituencies and act as voting members, ideally consisting of a total of 16 members. These new appointments close the gap, but leave one vacant seat remaining.
