When Life Imitates… a Murder Mystery?

It was a typically cold October evening, and I got cozy on the couch preparing to watch a murder mystery movie. I wanted to get in the Halloween spirit – I just love this genre! I was comfortable and happy with a warm cup of Chai and a bowl of chips to munch on. Little did I know that I was actually going to be scared out of my mind that night!

It was especially windy, and there was a decent thunderstorm happening here in Appleton. The movie took place in Scotland, starting off with a full-on hurricane that forced the characters to remain indoors. I honestly didn’t think much of it at all, until the thunder claps started. They were almost in sync! It would thunder here, and then thunder on my screen two minutes later.

This continued on for a good 15 minutes! Then I started to hear the windows rattling because of the wind, and people were going in and out which made the doors slam. Over the course of the movie, I started hearing all of the sounds that surround me which I am usually able to ignore; The ice machine was whirring, refrigerator compressors startled me when they sporadically turned on, and the heaters had a buzzing that wouldn’t stop. That night, this truly scared me! They just sounded so prominent, and too eerily similar to what I was hearing in the movie. It was quite terrifying, but made the movie all the more enjoyable! I began to understand the thrill that people get out of even more intense horror movies, although I’m not quite there yet!
