My First Time Flying

The first flight I took was maybe an hour long, if not less, from Bangkok to an island oasis called Koh Samui. Since moving away to college, I am flying transatlantically, traveling for a minimum total of 24 hours! I distinctly remember being a very nervous flier on that first flight! I was certain that I would get on the wrong plane going to the wrong place, just like Kevin in “Home Alone 2.” I checked my seat number at least a hundred times before getting on the plane to make sure I got to the right row. The emergency landing safety instructions that I usually ignored were now being committed to memory in my head. I realized just how much I relied on my parents to be responsible for me! Now, I am so grateful to them for exposing me to this fear and actually making me face it. I have more confidence in myself and in my ability to care for myself. I also know for a fact that they would have been just as nervous as I was, back on the ground.
