An update on the Fox Commons

Lawrence University’s Fox Commons located in Downtown Appleton is on track to open in time for Fall 2024. This new residential space will provide students with the chance to in apartment-style housing.  

The renovations for Fox Commons began last summer in the City Center Plaza. Dark Horse Development and Boldt have both participated in the construction of the new housing project. The apartments will be open to students who have lived on-campus for 10 or more terms going into Fall 2024. Seniors who plan to spend three consecutive terms on campus will be prioritized in the housing selection process.

Rooms in the Fox Commons will come furnished with full-sized bedrooms, kitchens and living rooms. Information sessions were held in Warch Hurvis regarding Fox Commons on Tuesday, March 26 and Wednesday, March 27 hosted by Residential Education and Housing. Information was provided on the opportunities that pre-med students and business & entrepreneurship majors will obtain while residing on Fox Commons.  

Residential Education  and Housing wrote that there will be several business that will work with both our Pre-Health and Business & Entrepreneurship Living-Learning Communities.  

Residential Education and Housing stated in an information session that students living at Fox Commons will be required to have a meal plan and that a meal plan exclusive to Fox Commons has been created; though students will be able to choose from any of the meal plans offered to all students. 100 parking spaces have been reserved in the Yellow ramp for LU students at a cost of $40 per month. The staffing at Fox Commons will include the Assistant Director of Residential Education and Housing and two student Residential Program Coordinators. Fox Commons will be open for application on the first day of the housing lottery.
