A note from the editor

Whether you’re a returning student or this is your first year here on our beautiful Lawrence University campus, it can feel hard to stay connected to the kinds of art and entertainment that you exprienced before.

After all, can any of us say that we were nearly as busy in high school as we now find ourselves in these college years?

Despite this, it’s important to find that time to connect to those creative things that bring you joy. As I hope that we illustrate here in the Arts and Entertainment (A&E) section, there are so many opportunities to find the things that excite you.

For some people, it may be as simple as finding a good movie to watch from one of these reviews. For others, it may be the reminder that faculty and students are always performing in some form or fashion all across the Conservatory. While we here in the A&E section have yet to introduce you to the work of the theater department this year, just know that you are in for a thrill when showtimes come around.

If you’re looking for a creative community, you’ll be excited to learn that there are many to choose from here on campus. The Creative Writing Club, for example, meets every Sunday, shortly after Book Club does. Already, in a single sentence, there are two new options for those of us literary nerds out there (and lord knows I am one of them).

But perhaps you’re more of a hands-on creative. If that’s the case, there’s the Fiber Arts Club, which has weekly meetings on Mondays. There’s even Frog Club, where you can stitch together little felt frogs to your heart’s content. I for one always look forward to their “Make-a-frog” events that come around for members and non-members alike.

If Lawrence is known for anything, it’s for its musical Conservatory, so you can bet your bottom dollar that there’s a plethora of opportunities to get connected musically.
