Near the end
Of the night
The final song was heard;
A dance of light, more light
Reaching skyward.
EM detections:
Signs of spirits, some say
No, I counter, coronal mass ejections
Yet either way
They trigger a dazzling display
Stretching across years of light
Light-years away
We both came here some night or day
To witness a performance;
Memorial
Chapel with its stained-glass windows;
Bright symbols
Of spiritual significance,
Reliant on color and light
Like the aurora borealis.
His religion’s a cross
Mine’s a flaming chalice
Both born to cope with loss
Stretching across
Years of light
Light-years
Away
Culminating in that day
Measure me, sky!
For when I die
I can only hope to be
As fortunate as he;
To take to my final flight
Amidst a chorus of sound and light.
