The Lawrence Men’s Golf team competed April 28, when they hosted the Lawrence Invitational, and April 29 at the St. Norbert Invitational in Wrightstown, Wisc. At the Lawrence Invitational, the Vikings took fourth place in the standings. At the St. Norbert Invitational, the Vikings took seventh place.
For the Lawrence Invitational, freshman Anton Olsson and sophomore William Thoren recorded career-low rounds. Olsson shot 82, good for a ninth place individual finish. Thoren shot 84, resulting in a tied 14th place finish. Other competitors for the Vikings were junior Tyler Clark carding 86, senior Zach Joseph and sophomore Derek Bricken both shooting 92, sophomore Paul Zuke carding 97 and junior Evan Link carding 109.
At St. Norbert, Olsson led the Vikings with an 82, which tied him for a 19th place individual finish. Clark, Thoren and Joseph also competed for Lawrence. Commenting on the weekend, Link responded, “We feel we could have played better. Overall, we played well on a tough course. Our short game can always improve. We need to be careful not to add extra strokes in hazards.”
Next up for the Vikings is the Midwest Conference Tournament May 3-5 in Rockford, Ill. “We hope to place well in conference. That is always our goal,” added Link.
