Kerkman sets school record at Eastbay Invitational

The Lawrence University indoor track team competed at the Eastbay Invitational last weekend at UW-Stevens Point, with notable performances coming from Rose Tepper, Nick Kerkman and Sam Stevens.

Tepper, a sophomore, finished third in the high jump with a height of 1.62 meters, though this height was not enough to match her season-best mark of 1.67 meters, set Feb. 5 at UW-Stevens Point’s Pointer Invitational.

Kerkman’s Lawrence-record weight throw of 14.83 meters placed him 17th among a field of 40 athletes, a feat that was enough to earn him a selection as Midwest Conference Field Performer of the Week.

Stevens, a sophomore from Bay Port, Wis., finished in eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.15.

Coach Jason Fast’s squad will next compete at the Midwest Conference Championships, held this weekend at Grinnell College.
