Wednesday night at Alexander Gym, senior guard Beth Pollnow became the Lawrence University Women’s basketball career leader in assists. Coming into Wednesday night’s game against The MWC leading Carroll Pioneers she needed 3 assists to break the previous record held by Jackie Huss who played from 1993 through 1997. Pollnow broke Huss’ record with 18:09 remaining in the second half on a pass to sophomore forward Ashley Stanton. Stanton made the lay-up and was fouled on the shot was well. Pollnow fouled out of her record setting game with 43.6 seconds remaining. She ended with ten points and three assists. “It is great that I could break this record at home in front of all our family and fans. This is a great team; they tried hard to get me the ball so I could pick the assists up. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to break the record with.” Unfortunately the Vikings lost to Carroll 70-53.
