LUCC extends executive election deadline

On Monday, Jan. 11, 2015, the Lawrence University Community Council (LUCC) voted to extend the deadline for candidates to submit paperwork to stand in the upcoming executive elections. In his report at a meeting of the General Council, LUCC President and senior Wesley Varughese announced that only one presidential candidate and two vice presidential candidates had submitted applications in time for the previous deadline set at 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9. He suggested that the council vote to extend the deadline till Jan. 14 to allow further candidates to submit their applications.

After a brief but heated debate, the council voted in favor of extending the deadline. Candidates running for LUCC president and vice president can now submit applications till 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14.

The executive election is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 19, prior to which The Lawrentian Editor-in-Chief Zach Ben-Amots and Copy Chief Amaan Khan will host a debate on the candidates’ platforms.
