Tennis Update

Lawrence University’s Lady Vikings have been fighting hard on the tennis courts this season, with an overall score of 6-9 and many strong comebacks after droughts of losses. They are wrapping up the season with two more conference games this upcoming Sunday. Last Wednesday, they went against UW-Oshkosh in a nonconference match which left Lawrence trailing 1-8. But, the lone winner, senior Lindsay Holsen, held out 6-1 and 6-3 in her singles match and won the game, adding to her 10-1 winning streak in her last 11 matches! Holsen said, “The matches this weekend against Cornell and Grinnell are traditionally some of the most challenging matches we play the whole season. They are both teams with a strong lineup of players in all positions. Regardless of the outcome, I am excited to see what the team can accomplish this year and I know everyone will put in their best effort and leave everything they can on the court!”

This upcoming Sunday is sure to be a tough game, as the Vikings go against Grinnell College at 9 a.m. and then Cornell College at 1:30 p.m. These last two conference matches will determine the standings for colleges as they then proceed to the Midwest Conference Championship in Madison on Oct. 14 and 15. Make sure to cheer on our women’s tennis team this weekend as they face their last conference matches before the conference championships!
