An Adventure in Africa

I consider myself extremely lucky and grateful to have visited some of the most mind-blowing wonders of the world. Zambia — a small, landlocked country in South-Central Africa — is one of them. Heading into the city of Lusaka, I saw an old archway painted entirely in a deep, dark green with the phrase, “One Zambia, One Nation” written in bright white bold letters. Driving through, there were malls filled with restaurants, little street markets selling one-of-a-kind homemade handicrafts and children running on the sidewalks with rattan soccer balls. People were taking advantage of the pleasant weather and enjoying outdoor cafes. Looking at the smiles on every person’s face made me feel as if I had arrived home, even though I was in a foreign land. Interactions with locals – they were extremely caring and comforting – evoked the same emotion. The kindness they showed, even to strangers, would make a bystander think they have been best friends for years. Lusaka is the place to be when you wish to sit back, relax and just enjoy whatever the city has to offer. People remain in the present, and take each day as it comes.

For those wanting to experience adventure like no other, Livingstone is your next stop. I mean this most sincerely when I say there is no other place in the world that can match what Livingstone has to offer.

Class-five whitewater rapids in the Mighty Zambezi are terrifying, soul-crushing monsters of water being constantly thrashed on top of you –  in the best possible way! It is honestly difficult to describe with words what that looks and feels like. Vibrant double rainbows spanning the entirety of the Victoria Falls color the whole sky, and it’s entirely natural. They look even more incredible when you’re staring at them head-on, at the edge of the 350-foot-high falls in the Devil’s Pool.

If being in the water is not for you, take in the stunning scenery of the Falls and see some of the Big Five from up high in a Microlight ride! Essentially, a scooter with wings. What if you’re afraid of heights? Stay nice and firm on the ground during a walking safari to see the most majestic White Rhinos. These have been protected and you can see them up close! You may feel like an intruder in their space, but it is just unbelievable to see these gentle giants in their natural habitat. I may sound like a cheesy billboard telling you all of the wonderful, amazing things about Lusaka and Livingstone, but Zambia is truly a magical place. I hope everyone is able to visit not just once, but multiple times in their life.
