Bird of the week: American robin

About: A thrush with reddish orange under parts and brownish-black back, wings and head. It has a yellow beak, white streaking on the throat and white eye arcs.

Where to find this bird: It frequently feeds on Main Hall Green when snow thaws. Otherwise, look for them in berry bushes or stands of trees along the Fox River.

When to find this bird: Year-round.

Fun fact: In fall and winter, they often live off of berries that remain on bushes. Sometimes these old berries start fermenting and the robins become intoxicated.
