Bird of the week: yellow warbler
About: Small, all yellow warbler. Adult males have brown streaking on their breasts and some minimal black on their wings.
Where to find this bird: Yellow warblers like willows and trees along water, but in migration can show up in mixed flocks with other warblers.
When to find this bird: early May–early September
Fun fact: There are numerous species of warbler that are yellow, including Wilson’s Warbler, female Hooded Warbler, Blue-winged Warbler, and Orange-crowned Warbler, but of the yellowish warbler species in North America, Yellow Warblers are the most yellow.
