From our kitchen to yours: Bananananana Cake

Taylor Scott

It could not be any simpler. Further simplicity is really just totally impossible. This is what week two is all about, anyway, right? Life is easy! The weather is getting nicer! You’re living for the moment! “Spring Term you” is all about living the high life.

All you need now are a few things.

Requirements for baker:

  • Desire for cake
  • Awareness of Batman theme song — to be sung while baking. “Banananana…”
  • Appreciation of anticipated deliciousness

Ingredients for baked goodness:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
  • ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup sugar (or, I used 2/3 c. sugar, and at least 1 Tablespoon of honey)
  • ¼ cup oil
  •  4 ripe bananas, mashed
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions:

-Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 9×13 pan. Use any size, but be aware that the thicker your cake is poured, the more time you have to bake it.

-Combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar and oil, then add mashed bananas. Stir in water and vanilla.

-Combine this banana mixture with dry mixture.

-Bake for about 40-45 minutes, depending upon pan size.

-Enjoy!
