LU men’s basketball ranked fifth in nation in preseason poll

The Lawrence University men’s basketball team has high expectations to meet after Street & Smith’s ranked them fifth nationally in their preseason poll.

The Vikings made it to the NCAA Division III Elite Eight last season, losing by one point in overtime to eventual national champion UW-Stevens Point. The Pointers are ranked number one coming into this upcoming season.

Junior Chris Braier is also making noise, as he was on Street & Smith’s second team preseason all-American list. Braier was the Midwest Conference Player of the Year last year and averaged 15 points and 13.4 rebounds a game for the Vikings.

LU will open its 2004-05 season in style, taking on UW-Milwaukee, a Division I school, on Nov. 10. It will be the first time the Vikings will have played a Division I school.
