It is no secret that in recent times, the rise of fake news has led to a sort of mass hysteria in our world politics. For many, it feels as though it has become more and more difficult to trust the opinions and judgment of others, and certain groups of people are not helping this situation. Among such people are Flat Earthers; they are promoting an attitude that may seem harmless, but it is truly eroding the collective good of the world.
On March 9, The Intercept, followed by several gaming news outlets, reported that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Canadian government are working on a new initiative with Roblox, Discord and other gaming/streaming bodies to “tackle extremism.”

I am writing to you an edition late. Two weeks ago, as spring break sat in my rearview mirror, and a meeting with The Lawrentian Editorial Board sat in my schedule ahead of me, I found myself having started my first term as editor of the Opinions and Editorials section with about an hour and a half of training under my belt, from the great fifth year Evan Ney, who all of a sudden wasn’t there to tell me what to do.
After my high school’s end-of-year auditions as a junior, I was offered a spot in three separate choirs and a higher-level orchestra. I had recently finished all of my graduation requirements, leaving my schedule wide open, and decided to accept all four offers. I dove into my musical studies, knowing that I would be unable to continue them in college. After all, I would have to put my scientific and legal studies, my career, ahead of my music.
Growing up, I felt a bit out of place without a mother. I knew plenty of people raised by single mothers, and a few people with two dads, but nobody with a single father. Luckily, I was also minorly (majorly) obsessed with “Star Wars” growing up. I remember watching “Attack of the Clones” as a middle schooler and thinking that Boba Fett was just like me: he only had a dad, and he certainly had plenty of siblings as well. Fortunately, my father was not beheaded by Mace Windu when I was a child like Jango Fett was.
