Carroll tops women’s soccer

In mid-week Midwest Conference
play, Carroll University beat Lawrence
in a stunning fashion.
The Pioneers stepped onto the
field with confidence which turned
itself into a goal five minutes into
the match from Cody Callender. The
Vikings defense opened up and goalkeeper
Lindsay Ahlen was too quick
off her line. Callender slotted home
that first essential goal.
The shocked Vikings immediately
needed to pick up their game.
However, the athletic Carroll side
outpaced the Vikings who were not
very successful in keeping possession.
The Pioneers netted four goals
in the span of 15 minutes, with
Callender netting herself a hat trick,
and later would put five in on the
Lady Vikes. The first half score
ended 5-0.
In the second half, Lawrence was
able to net two consolation goals,
one from Ellie Galvin and another
from Sarah Ehlinger who had most
of Lawrence’s opportunities, though
they were few, and far between.
The match finished 9-2 after
Carroll added four additional goals
in the second half. The Pioneers outshot
the Vikings 27 to 11.
The Lady-Vikes are looking at
get their first conference victory this
season as they face back to back
