Thud, thud, thud, CRASH! A flash of red plaid emanated from the door frame as Paul Karner scrambled up the stairs of the GLOW house, WLFM radio show application in hand. This was not how Jamie Gajewski or Nicole Capozziello expected to begin their radio show but it has continued in a similarly chaotic fashion ever since. They have been hosting their show, The Insanity Hour, every Sunday night for a year now, with DJ Brengle as a consistent guest star.
Each night they play an assortment of crazy music, usually centered around a divinely inspired theme such as androgynous singers, Jesus, or disturbing Christmas carols. “Most of the themes just end up being an excuse to play whatever we’re into at the time. Or just Nico,” said Capozziello, whose show often consists of the bizarre indie music she and Jamie have acquired.
However, they also try to play music from the 60s and 70s, most recently dedicating Smokey Robinson’s “Tears of a Clown” to the Grill employees. “I want them to be able to scream the Grill order numbers over their favorite songs,” said Gajewski.
Despite this thoughtfulness, they have yet to be played in the Grill though their hopes remain high. Listen to The Insanity Hour every Sunday from 10 to 12 p.m. to hear Jamie and Nicole’s latest ridiculous story along with some great.
