HockeyLawrence University forward Ryan Blick was honored for his play this past weekend at the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association Tournament. Blick, a freshman from Canton, Mich., led the Vikings to third place in the five-team tourney at the Appleton Family Ice Center.

Blick started the tournament by scoring the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Northland College in Friday night’s semifinal qualifier game. Blick had two goals and an assist in Lawrence’s 5-4 overtime win over Milwaukee School of Engineering in Sunday1s consolation game. Blick, who earned conference Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors during the season, scored the game-winning goal 1:56 into overtime to give Lawrence the victory over MSOE.

Wrestling

Andy Kazik earned his third consecutive trip to the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships with his performance this past Saturday.

Kazik, a native of De Pere, won the 184-pound weight class at the Great Lakes Regional at North Central College. Kazik pinned Chad Krnac of Augustana in 2:46 in the quarterfinals in his opening match. He then defeated David Hirt of Wheaton 3-1 in the semfinals. Kazik captured the title by beating Ryan Jones of Pacific 4-3 in the championship match.

Kazik, who is 36-0 on the season, is the nation’s No. 1-ranked wrestler in his weight class.
