LOS ANGELES — California voters passed a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. The initiative for the ban, known as Proposition 8, won 52 percent of the vote. Florida and Arizona voters passed the ban as well.

The runner was on a trail near Prescott Monday when the animal attacked her foot. She grabbed the fox by the neck, but it clamped down on her arm. The jogger and an animal control officer who was also bitten are receiving a series of vaccinations.
MEXICO CITY — A plane crash has killed two top officials in the war against drug trafficking. The government Learjet 45 crashed into rush-hour traffic in Mexico City late Tuesday, killing Interior Secretary Juan Camilo Mourino, former drug prosecutor Jose Luis Santiago Vasconcelos and at least 11 others.
