Cynthia Yanke begins work this year as Lawrence University’s first Risk and Insurance Manager. Her duties include overseeing campus security and insurance issues ranging from auto damage to management of all of Lawrence’s property. The new position also oversees compliance with federal OSHA job safety requirements.
Among her security responsibilities are coordinating efforts with other law enforcement agencies in the area and providing additional training for security in using the automated systems that were installed in the newly remodeled campus buildings.
Yanke wishes to further automate Lawrence. “Eventually, campus buildings could have card readers that work with student ID cards, so that students won’t have to carry an abundance of keys,” Yanke said.
Yanke has experience ranging from law enforcement and government work, to corporate security and other positions in the private sector, but not yet education.
Yanke has earned degrees in business management and communications from Concordia University, and also did some coursework at nearby Fox Valley Tech. She moved to the area just last year, at which point she heard of this job opportunity.
