The Viking baseball and softball teams both lost games to Mother Nature this past weekend, as the freak April snowstorm that buried the region forced the postponement of the double headers that the teams were to play. The Viking Baseball team was to play Marian last Thursday, and Beloit last Saturday and Sunday. All three of those doubleheaders have been postponed, and only the Vikings’ game at Beloit has a make-up date. The Vikings will go down to Beloit on April 10.
This weekend the Vikings will try to get some games in, and will go to Lakeland College on Sunday.
The Lawrence University Softball team has had the same bad luck with the weather. They had a double header against UW-Oshkosh postponed on Saturday. Those games will be made up on April 24.
The double header scheduled for last Tuesday against Milwaukee School of Engineering has been postponed as well, but no make-up date has been set for that tilt.
The softball team will be playing this weekend at the Midwest Conference Classic in Janesville. This event pits all the teams from the MWC Northern Division in games against teams from the MWC Southern Division.
The Vikings will play two games on Saturday against Monmouth at 1:00 p.m. and Grinnell at 3:00 p.m.
Sunday the Vikings will play the rest of the MWC South foes, starting with Knox at 10:00 a.m., Illinois College at noon, and Lake Forest, who was ranked second in the nation in the preseason polls, at 3:00 p.m.
