Rugby: A game of Elegant Violence

Maybe you have played before, and maybe you want to try something new. Maybe you’re fast, maybe you’re slow. Whatever your skill, whatever your speed, rugby could be your game. Now I admit it can get “rough,” so maybe if you live in a perpetual fear of broken bones, flesh wounds, or concussions, you may want to stay away, but remember bodies heal, pride does not. It is a great sport that combines the skills of many others including: kicking, passing (with feet and hands), running, jumping, and tackling. It is the father of modern football. It is played everywhere on the planet, often in place of football. It will get you in the best shape of your life, 80 min games.
Come and play with the Appleton Men’s team; ladies talk to me I can set you up with one of two nearby cities. We practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the nearby Tellulah Park (over the College Ave. bridge, take your first left, about 3 or 4 blocks in, just past the train). If you just like to watch, the games are on Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. If you are interested please contact Ben Dictus at ext. 7260 or check out the website at www.appletonrugby.com.
If you are still unconvinced, ask your self what other sport has a position that is known as the hooker. Good, I will see you at practice.
