SWAHP is affiliated with the National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness and is devoted to educating and actively engaging the Lawrence community about hunger and poverty issues, both locally and globally. Last year, SWAHP facilitated a number of events helping benefit those who suffer due to hunger and poverty, including the Crop Walk, letters-writing campaigns and petitions advocating appropriate legislation at the national level, volunteering at a number of non-profit organizations in Chicago over reading period, and raising over 2000 canned goods and $600 for the Emergency Shelter of the Fox Cities Area. If you want to help alleviate the hunger and poverty issues of our area, nation and world, join the SWAHP team!
