The Lawrence Assisting Reaching Youth Buddy program matches Lawrence students with a youth at Edison Elementary who is recommended for the program by a teacher or counselor. Lawrence volunteers are asked to spend an hour each week with their buddy at Edison Elementary during school hours. LARY Buddies are a positive adult role model in the child’s life, providing them with direct adult attention, friendship and guidance. Buddies can do everything from working on homework to playing games. All Lawrence students are encouraged to apply through the Volunteer and Community Service Center.
