Artist Spotlight: Michael Angelo

Where are you from and what is your major?
I’m from Chicago, Ill. and I was a double major in theory/composition and shredding like a motherf***er.What artists or performers have been particularly inspirational to you?
My primary inspirations are Eddie Van Halen, Elliot Fisk, and of course Vivaldi. I also have drawn much of my compositional inspiration from the guy who wrote the soundtrack to Castlevania.

When did you start playing music?
I was born in the bathroom at a Led Zeppelin Concert and began playing guitar at 7 months. By age 6 I was officially the best guitar player in the world, but continued practicing. I realized that playing guitar was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Nowadays, if I go more than a couple hours without rocking out I start convulsing and I break out in hives.

Are you currently working on any projects?
I’m recording my third video, called “Alpha and Omega.” It is an intentionally hard-to-follow instructional video in which I parade all the impractical techniques I’ve perfected over my 50 years of mindless shredding. I’ve also recorded my first album without a backup band, entitled “Guitarmageddon.” It’s my musical attempt to challenge God as the sole ruler of the universe.

What are your future plans?
Once the world hears my new album I anticipate worldwide chaos as the great religions collapse and the souls of billions flee to the pits of hell at the sound of such divine musical prowess. I will then rule the universe, hailing my left and right hands as the Son and the Holy Ghost, respectively.
