The Lawrence men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams went to the University of Chicago last weekend and continued their great season against high-level competition such as Loras, the University of Chicago and the Marquette Swim Club. The women finished third with 519 points and were led by Hayley Vatch (’09), who set a school record in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:16. Kelsey Grey (’11) finished third in the same event with a time of 19:31. Senior diver Marissa Vallette took second place for the women with a total score of 303.

The men had a strong weekend as well, placing fifth with 313 points. The relay teams had strong finishes in the 200-yard freestyle and the 200-yard medley. Nick Johnson (’11) swam a 2:08 time in the 200-yard IM and senior Bryan Rosen dove for a total of 274 points. Taylor Brengel (’09) swam a 58.53 in the 100-yard backstroke.

Both the men and the women swim at home this weekend on Saturday starting at 10 a.m., so everyone should come out and support them. Good luck to LUST this weekend and for the rest of the term.
