LU volleyball team digs out another victoryThe Lawrence University volleyball team picked up another victory on the season against Milwaukee School of Engineering last Thursday by a score of 3-1. It was the fourth consecutive win for the streaking Vikings, whose season record is now up to 7-16. The scoring of the games was 30-26, 22-30, 30-26, and 30-27.

The Vikings had three players in double digit kills. Alicia Onisawa was the team leader with 19. Ashley Davis had 11, and Kelly Mulcahy had 10 for the Vikings. Onisawa led the team along with Tiffany Orcholski with three service aces a piece. The team finished with eight blocks on the match.

LU is next in action at home in the LU triangular against UW-Stout, and Northland Baptist Bible College. Matches begin at 10 a.m. in Alexander Gym.

Vikings get off to slow start at Beloit Classic

The Viking men’s and women’s cross country teams participated in the Beloit Old English Cross Country Classic last weekend in Beloit. The women’s team finished eighth out of 11 teams and the men finished eighth out of 17 teams.

The women were led by freshman Cate Frazier, who finished 12th overall in a time of 20:30. Joy Manweiler and Rachel Lucas also finished in the top thirty overall

Sophomore David Quinlan, who finished 28th overall in a time of 27:57, led the men. The Vikings are next in action this weekend at the Wisconsin private College Championships at Concordia University in Mequon.

Viking tennis ends regular season on sour note

The Viking women’s tennis team finished its last regular season match on a sour note, losing 9-0 at UW-Whitewater. The Falcons did not lose a set to the Vikings. LU ends its regular season with a wining record at 9-7. It was LU’s first winning season since the mid-1990s. The Vikings will be participating in singles and doubles at the Midwest Conference Tournament this weekend in Madison.
