Lawrence’s first case of H1N1 diagnosed

According to the Appleton Health Department, Lawrence has its first confirmed case of the novel type A (H1N1) virus, colloquially referred to as swine flu. The student has been isolated and the campus is following health safety procedures.
Symptoms of the flu include fever, headache, cough, sore throat, and fatigue. Some individuals with H1N1 infections have also reported vomiting and diarrhea. Lawrence’s health center staff recommends that students, faculty or staff with any of these symptoms visit the health center so arrangements to test for the H1N1 virus can be made. The health center does not have tests for the virus, so off-campus appointments are required.
